My Garden
I have a new long term hobby- a vegetable garden. I was actually the hubbies idea, but he did not have to twist my arm. I love eating veggies- fresh, frozen or canned.
Unlike previous years where we would buy a few plants, plop them in the ground, and let them fend for themselves against the weeds- we decided would make a 'proper garden'. I bought the “Guide to Michigan Vegetable Gardening” by James A Fizzell and got to digging.
Here is what I came up with:
This plot is roughly 17' x 20'. Working around a down spout, air conditioner, and bushes, I managed to get 5 raised beds that are roughly 10' x 3' each. This was done second weekend of April during one of Michigan's warm snaps. As you can see- I got a bit hopeful the weather was going to stay warm and planted some of my cold weather seedlings. More on the plants next post.
Smile- post coming soon!
I'm currently working on a series of post for this blog. Until them- enjoy some smiley fries!
